Obituary of Jasper Olene

Jasper G. Olene, 77, of Champlin passed away on Monday, December 22, 2008 at Golden Living Center in Rush City. He was born on April 5, 1931 in Spencer Brook Township, Minnesota to Alvin and Florence (Moody) Olene. Jasper grew up in Spencer Brook, attending Bradford and Spencer Brook Country Schools. The family moved to Princeton where he graduated from high school. After his schooling he worked for a short time before joining the U.S. Air Force at age 19. He served during the Korean conflict as was honorably discharged. On May 16, 1959 he was united in marriage to Evelyn Halling in Champlin. They lived in his home and later purchased a home on the river. They would sell the home on the river and purchase another in Champlin. Jasper worked as a machinist for Electric Machinery, retiring after 37 years in 1993. He enjoyed gardening, flowers and collecting antiques. He was preceded in death by his brothers Merrit, Galen, Elliot, Dennis and Dean. Jasper is survived by his wife Evelyn of Champlin, twin sister Janie and husband Leonard Henchen of Princeton, sister Bonnie Olene of Texas, special niece Cindy and husband John Shockman of Braham, as well as several other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
