Obituary of Norma Olson
Norma H. Olson, 90, of Cambridge went home with her Lord on Sunday, January 4, 2009 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Norma Hannah (Peterson) Olson was born September 4, 1918 in Minneapolis, MN to Peter and Hannah (Erickson) Peterson. She was baptized at her grandmother's home in Minneapolis and confirmed at Cambridge Lutheran Church. Norma attended school in Cambridge, graduating from Cambridge High School in 1936. She went on to Minneapolis Business College and earned a degree in Machine Bookkeeping. Norma lived with her aunt in Minneapolis and worked at Bowtell's for a couple of years. She moved back to Cambridge and worked at the Woolen Mills. She also worked at East Central Electric in Cambridge and at the Isanti County Auditor's Office at the courthouse.
On June 26, 1942 she was united in marriage to Edgar Olson at Cambridge Lutheran Church. Edgar and Norma lived in Cambridge, Norma cared for her parents in Cambridge and Edgar took care of his parents and the home farm near Bradford. After Edgar's parents passed away they sold the farm and moved into Norma's parents' home. Edgar passed away in February 1992 and Norma remained at the home until her passing.
Norma was an active member of Cambridge Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir, was superintendent of the primary department, active in ladies groups, bible study group, prayer group, and the secretary/treasurer for the cemetery for several years. Norma started her own catering business which at the time was the only one between Minneapolis and Duluth. Norma was a friend of former governor Elmer Andersen and made the anniversary cake for him and his wife.
Norma enjoyed cooking and baking; and was always happy to entertain her friends and ladies in the bible study. She liked spending time in her flower garden, and traveling. She and Edgar especially enjoyed the Scandinavian trip they took in 1972.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edgar, sister Hulda Kluck, nephew Ronald Kluck. Norma is survived by niece Marilyn Olson of Isanti, nephew Richard Kluck of Texas, cousin Caroline Nelson of Minneapolis, as well as other relatives and friends.
