Audrey, Scott, and Nancy, I can not tell you how sorry we are for the loss of your husband and father. He is one of the only people that we have met in our life that will live with us for the rest of our lives. He was one of a kind. Working with him in the American Legion over the years has always been a highlight in my life, and something that I always looked forward to. After he would Post the Colors at the beginning of the meeting, to hear Clark Swanson whisper to him, "Nice job Chalstrom!" was the classic line of knowing he was doing what he always was meant to do. He was passonate about ensuring that we honored our Veterans with dignity and Pride. He went way beyond his call to do what we knew needed to be done. I am very proud to have known him and worked beside him in the Legion. It was always great to hear the stories he would tell about my dad at times sitting after the meetings, or to see him look in his "computer" at he flipped through that notebook that he always carried, or when he would get sidetracked while talking and then say," You don't need to hear about that, but anyway...". He will be greatly missed by many! May we join in the long list of Condolences of his many friends, and say we are sorry to be so far away to not be able to attend the services, or participate in them as well. Audrey & Family-- We are so very sorry to hear of Jim's passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and Jim always. It was an honor to be able to call him my friend. I will cherish the years I spent getting to know him, especially on our travels to Color Guard Details. I always looked forward to fixing his uniform for him when it or his shoulder wouldn't cooperate. I loved reassuring him that I had the "good shells" for us and that there was no need to worry about them jamming the rifles today. I think he was only one that it bothered more than me. I am a better man because I knew him and I will miss him greatly! Rest peacefully friend, until we meet again...... If there is anything you need help with going forward, anything at all. Aunt Audrey, Scott, Nancy and Family, My heart goes out to each and everyone of you for losing this Great Man. He will be missed tremendously from everyone he encountered.
