Obituary of Eleanor Lindeen

Eleanor M. Lindeen, 90, of Cambridge, went home with the Lord January 29, 2009. at GracePointe Crossing West. She was born on July 24, 1918 in Pomroy Township, Minnesota to Herman and Annie (Brinkman) Rabe. She attended Hiawatha Grade School in Pomroy Township and went to Parochial School in Kroschel until she was confirmed in 1932. She attended Hinckley High School and graduated from Mora High School in 1937. Eleanor went to South St. Paul in 1937 to work, did housework for a while and worked in a restaurant for 1 ½ years. While in South St. Paul she met Elmer Lindeen. Eleanor was united in marriage to Elmer in June 1939 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Kroschel. The couple made their home in South St. Paul until 1942 when they purchased a farm in Kroschel. While in Kroschel Eleanor was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church where she was active in ladies aid and the mothers club at school. In June 1959 Eleanor began working as a psychiatric technician at the Cambridge State Hospital. In August 1959 the family moved to Grandy. Eleanor later retired from the State Hospital. Shortly after Elmer's death in 1980 she then moved to Cambridge. During her time in Cambridge she was an active member of Joy Lutheran Church. She especially enjoyed organizing and participating in the bible studies at Bridge Park Apartments. Faith was a very important part of her life as well as her time spent with her beloved family. She was talented at crocheting and knitting, and enjoyed traveling. After Elmer's passing Eleanor traveled with family and friends. Her travels brought her to Europe, Ecuador and throughout the United States. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; husband Elmer Lindeen; daughter Janet Nyline; brothers Harold Rabe and Walter Rabe; sister Ruth Lindroth. She is survived by daughters, Marilyn (Gary) Blum of Mora; Patricia (Dean) Sylvester of Deerwood; Sherrie (Jack) Witte of Dalbo; Judy (Doug) Bratvold of Cambridge; Peggy (Judd) Johnson of Ecuador; Gail (Curt) Mowers of Brainerd; son John (Rebecca) Lindeen of Stanchfield; son-in-law, Fredrick Nyline of Sandstone; 22 Grandchildren; 19 Great Grandchildren; brother Vernon (Carol) Rabe of Hollywood, Florida; sisters-in-law, Linda Rabe of Kroschel and Verona Lindeen of Cambridge, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
