Alfred was so much more than a father in law to me, he was a teacher, mentor, guidance counselor and close friend. He is one of the two greatest men to be part of my life, I am so grateful and honored to have been able to share such a small part of such a great man's life. I will miss him deeply

Grandpa, you lived a long and happy life. I will always remember going to Grandma & Grandpa's house every weekend when I was young. We would watch movies (from your endless selection), listen to your poems, jump on the trampoline, pick raspberries, take trips to the Dairy Queen and much, much more. We always had the best time "going up North" to your house. I will never forget all the wisdom you taught me and hearing "Grandpa's train". Thank you for all the memories. Love always ~ Courtney

Alfred - In this day in age there is much discussion about Role Models (sports figures, famous people, etc). I have had two role models - men that have greatly influenced my life: One was my father (Don Streit) that taught through example. He demonstrated a strong work ethic, a work hard - play hard attitude and the importance of family. My second role model was YOU, my father-in-law for 36 years. You taught me through communication and consistency the importance of logical thinking and a calm style of problem solving. I am very glad to have had this time with you and I will miss our talks very much. I know that my role models have given me the guidance to be a better man! THANK YOU THANK YOU, Your son in law, Doug

Grandpa,
you are the most caring, honest, kind, smart, selfless, joyful person I've ever met. You have always been there for me. I'm sorry it had to end this way, but you've lived a long, wonderful life. Everytime my mom would say 'We're going to go visit grandpa' I wouldn't really want to go, but I always did anyways. When I would get home I would be grateful for getting to spend time with you. You've taught me so much. I remember sitting down stairs listening to 'The Thing' I love that song(:. 'As I was walking down the street one bright and sunny day, I saw a great big box a floating in the bay.' I have so many memories of you. I remember when you would try to teach me how to play songs on the keyboard down stairs, and when we would mow the lawn. And when we would water the flowers. I could go on and on.. I know for a fact I will miss you. I miss our hugs everytime I would leave your house. I wish I could have known you longer, but the time I did spend with you was priceless. Sometimes I wish I could go back. I love you, and I always will. You mean so much to me. It's going to be hard to let go of you.
