Obituary of Loraine Larson

Loraine Larson of Cambridge died Monday Feb. 2, 2009 at GracePointe Crossing East in Cambridge. Loraine was born May 8, 1920 in Cambridge. Her parents, Harry and Alma Peterson had recently moved to Cambridge from Athens. Loraine was the baby of the family with 6 older siblings. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1937 and then worked in Cambridge and Minneapolis for several years. On December 7, 1941 �" a memorable day �" Loraine married Adolph A. Larson of Cambridge in Mason City, Iowa. They spent the early war years in California �" Loraine and Adolph both worked for the war effort �" Loraine at Douglas Aircraft and Adolph in the service of our country. When Adolph was drafted and shipped out for Okinawa, Loraine returned home on the train. She lived with her parents until Adolph returned in December, 1945. They joined Cambridge Lutheran Church where Loraine sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and was a member of women's circles. She loved playing golf at Grandy and the Purple Hawk. She was an avid reader. She loved football, following her sons' and grandsons' football careers as Cambridge Bluejackets, Austin Packers and Minnesota Gophers. If you watched a football game with Loraine, she could tell you exactly what was happening! Loraine was preceded in death by her husband Adolph, her parents Harry and Alma Peterson, her sisters Imo Raymetz, Agnes Raymetz, Jeanet Peterson, Mildred Peterson, and her brothers Roy, Melvin and Woody Peterson. Loraine �" mother, grandmother, friend �" will be missed by her family �" Suzanne and Steve Walters of New Brighton, Reid Larson of Cambridge, Kurt, Laura, Erik and Adam Larson of Cambridge, Barry, Pam, Matthew (fiancé Ali), David and Emma, Sara, and Jacob Larson of Austin, MN. She is survived by her nieces Lois Emmel, Joyce Bloomquist, Elaine Peterson and Shirley Wik.
