Obituary of Viola Stoeckel
Viola Elvina Stoeckel, 88, of Princeton and Zimmerman passed away on Friday, February 13, 2009 at the Elim Home in Princeton.
She was born April 13, 1920 in Benton County, Minnesota to Gottfried and Selma (Benson) Swanson. She grew up in Benton County near Foley and went on to become a teacher. Viola taught at various country schools starting in Foley and later Crown, Springvale and Bradford. While at Crown she taught in the school that was near Walter Stoeckel's family home. The two met and after Walter's military service they were married on October 18, 1947 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Crown. To this union a daughter Rosalie was born on Mother's day and they raised her in Crown.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Walter, sisters Marion Swanson, Bernice (Lester) Johnson, Eunice (Harry) Hanson, brothers Bertil (Ella) Swanson, Manly "Paul" Swanson, sisters-in-law Beatrice and Marley Stoeckel, brothers-in-law Donald (Ruth) Stoeckel and Earle (Irene) Stoeckel.
Viola is survived by her daughter Rosalie and husband Bob Uhden of Donnelly, MN, sister Harriet and husband Don Dahlstrom, brother Maynard and wife Lucille Swanson all of Estes Brook, sister-in-law Florence Swanson of Grand Rapids, MI, brother-in-law Delton Stoeckel of Crown, as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and other relatives.
