Obituary of Everett Hahn

Everett Lionel Hahn, better known as Huck, 92, of Cambridge, MN, and formerly of Rosholt, SD, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, February 26, 2009, at GracePointe Crossing West, Grandview Christian Home, in Cambridge. Everett was born April 28, 1916, on the farm East of Rosholt to the late Edward and Esther (Swanson) Hahn. He married Josephine Thomas May 21, 1938. She preceded him in death July 27, 1980. They enjoyed working the land and raising livestock on their farm, Northwest of Rosholt until moving into Rosholt in 1975. In 1983 he retired from farming. Huck was a faithful and life member of Bethania Lutheran Church of Rosholt. Later he joined the Cambridge Methodist Church. He also served on the Rosholt Board of Education, Victor Township Board, the National Farmers Organization (NFO), and Bethania Church Board. Music was a special interest of his, especially when he could play his harmonicas. On August 14, 1982, he married Evelyn (VanAlstine) Hahn. At that time he moved to Cambridge, MN. Here he enjoyed working in his garden, caring for his lawn and doing numerous projects for other people in his much loved shop. He never really retired from work, he was always busy. Spending the winter in sunny Mesa, Arizona was a joy from 1978 until 1999. He always looked forward to returning to Rosholt each fall for the Annual Threshing Bee's. Survivors include his wife Evelyn of 26 years; one daughter Arleen and husband Dwight Bietz of Tripp, SD; two sons, David and wife Carol of Wall, SD and Dale and wife Kathy of Maple Plain, MN, one step-daughter Lois and husband Wayne Boettcher of Isanti, MN; one step-son Gene VanAlstine and wife Shari of Cambridge, MN.; five grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, twenty step-great-grandchildren; one niece and three nephews. In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank (1988), LeRoy [Jack] (1991), and Willard [Ike] (1996), and a nephew Ronald (1990).
