Obituary of James Soltys

James Michael "Jim" Soltys, 59, of Isanti, formerly of Northeast Minneapolis passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at St. Therese at St. Odilia in Shoreview. He was born on September 21, 1952 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Thomas and Mary (Wrobleski) Soltys. Jim grew up in Northeast Minneapolis where he attended Holy Cross Grade School. He went on to attend St. John's Prep School in Collegeville and also completed four years at St. John's University. After college, Jim enlisted in the US. Army in September 1975 and was stationed in Texas and Germany. He was honorably discharged in September 1978 On August 7, 1976 Jim was united in marriage to Grace Linder at Christ The King Catholic Church in Cambridge. They lived a short time in Ft. Hood, TX and Germany until Jim's discharge from the Army. Jim and Grace settled in Northeast Minneapolis and would raise their three daughters. Jim was working for the United States Postal Service where he worked 33 years, much of that time spent in downtown Minneapolis. More recently Jim and Grace moved to rural Isanti and made their home the past few years. Jim had been a member of All Saints Catholic Church years ago. He enjoyed reading, computer games, fishing, hunting, and camping in his younger years, loved Science Fiction, whether it be books, movies or television shows. He loved drinking Coca Cola, and was a true connoisseur of Coke; he could tell whether it came from a can or a bottle. He thoroughly enjoyed the three trips he made to Disney World. He loved playing with his grandchildren, was a tickler and a prankster, and loved to just relax. Jim was preceded in death by his father, grandma and grandpa Soltys, and grandma and dzai dzai Wrobleski. He is survived by his wife Grace of Isanti, daughters Kari (Zack) Wilson of Little Canada, Jenni Soltys of Isanti, Judith (Rob) Zenk of Northeast Minneapolis, 5 grandchildren, Sebastian, Alina and Elise Wilson, Gwendolyn and Odelia Zenk, mother Mary Soltys of Northeast Minneapolis, brother Bill (Kathy) Soltys of Minneapolis, sisters Joanne (Kevin) Carr of St. Louis, MO, Gail Stone of Northeast Minneapolis, Karen (Jeff) McCarty of Bloomington, IL, Anne Marie Soltys of St. Paul, as well as many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
