Obituary of Margaret Goehring

Margaret Goehring, 88, formerly of St. Cloud passed away on Friday, April 10, 2009 at Heritage House in Milaca. She was born May 3, 1920 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Alfred and Grace (Preston) Sloatermen. She lived in the Colorado Springs area until the family moved to California. While in California Margaret met Gale Goehring at Black's Beach and they were married on August 10, 1941 in La Jolla, California. During their time in California their first two children were born, Sandra and David. In 1946 the family moved to St. Cloud where their third child Cheryl was born. They would later move to Blaine and then Milaca where Margaret worked at Gretzky's for a few years. Gale passed away in 1981 and Margaret moved to Coon Rapids where she lived for a number of years. While living in Coon Rapids Margaret was very active as a volunteer at the Senior Center and was voted Volunteer of the Year two years in a row. She also enjoyed being a part of their festivities, playing roles in the many skits that were put on. More recently she was a resident at the Caley House in Princeton and the past month was spent in the Heritage House in Milaca. Margaret enjoyed collecting rocks, reading, and loved all animals. She was interested in several subjects and was always eager to learn new things. She never had a bad word to say about anyone. She was preceded in death by her parents, and daughter Sandra Schmiege. Margaret is survived by her daughter Cheryl Fuglie and special friend Chris Jensen of Cambridge, son David and wife Margo Goehring of Maple Grove, ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, sisters Hazel Vance of Twentynine Palms, CA, Esther Bernard of La Jolla, CA, brother Alfred Sloatermen of San Diego, CA, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
