Obituary of Lester Israelson
Lester Morris Israelson, 86, of Cambridge, formerly of Columbia Heights passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2009 at GracePointe Crossing West.
He was born June 10, 1922 in Mount Morris Township, Morrison County, Minnesota to Iver and Jennie (Talberg) Israelson. Les grew up in Hillman where he attended grade school. In February 1946 he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He was Honorably Discharged in March 1947. Les would go on to Dunwoody College for five years to become a pipefitter.
On April 3, 1948 he was united in marriage to Bernice Otremba in Morrill, Minnesota. They would move to Columbia Heights and raise their five children. Les worked for many years as a pipefitter for Advanced Mechanical. In 1984 Les retired and in 1986 he and Bernice moved to Mille Lacs Lake. In 1995 they moved to Pine Village in Cambridge and have lived there since then.
Les enjoyed hunting and spending time on the computer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Albert and Clement, sisters Ruth and Cora.
Les is survived by his wife Bernice of Cambridge, daughters Joyce and husband Gerald Parmeter of Ham Lake, Corrine Blackledge of Shoreview, sons Randy and wife Dianne Israelson of Spring Lake Park, Thomas and wife Polly Israelson of Fridley, Douglas and wife Debra Israelson of Fort Worth, TX, ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, sister Lena Kachmerzinski of Mountain Iron, brother Wesley Israelson of Sartell, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
