Like my sister, Lee Ann, many of my best memories include (Great) Aunt Gertrude and (Great) Uncle Jim Sikkink. One of my first childhood memories of moving to Minnesota is meeting Aunt Gertrude and Uncle Jim, and of course, going to their beautiful house where Aunt Gertrude fed us! I will always remember Aunt Gertrude's smile... her kindness... her quiet, gentle way of loving and talking... how she loved to be surrounded by her family and friends... the lilacs in her yard... her steadfast faith in Christ Jesus... her rhubarb bars! I'm so glad that she's with Jesus and her family who've gone before her. And I can't wait to see her again!

So many of my best childhood memories center around time spent with Aunt Gertrude & Uncle Jim at their house. I dearly love them and am missing them so much! I take comfort that they have moved on to a place where there is no more sorrow and no more pain. What a legacy they left behind, a rich and lasting legacy!

Dear Sikkink family, Gertrude meant so much to me, she was one of the most loving and kind hearted people I have ever known. Whatever she had she shared. She spoke kind words and they came from her heart. When we came visiting, she always wanted to feed us... and after feeding us lunch, with bars for dessert, she would start fixing dinner, finding her bread and butter pickles Michael loves. She would share the pictures of her kids, grandkids, great grandkids, and the camping trips and family vacations. She wore her pride for her family like a precious jewelled shawl from God. I am so thankful she was my Auntie, and that her family loved her dearly and took such good care of her. Moments with her are treasures in my heart.

Sorry to hear of your Mom's passing but are thankful to have known her and been shown love by her and your Dad. They were both very kind, tenderhearted people and shared their home with us when we were back in Minnesota for visits and they visited us at our home when we lived in Sebastopol, CA. We stayed with your Mom in 2004 when we came for reunion and Kathy you prepared the most delicious cinnamon rolls and breakfast burritos. You gave of your heart, thank you! We didn't stay in touch except through others but we loved your Mom. She was so sweet and caring. She is now "safe in the arms of Jesus". Our love to your whole family.
