Obituary of HK Brantley
HK Brantley, 94, of Long Beach, California passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at GracePointe Crossing Gables East.
He was born on January 16, 1915 in Milledgeville, Georgia to TP and Georgia Brantley. HK grew up in Milledgeville where he attended grade school. He would go on to join the CCC Camps and build roads and after that joined the United States Navy. He served during World War II and remained in the Navy for 20 years.
HK married Margaret Donigan in New York. Because of his service in the Navy they lived in several areas of the US. They eventually settled in California, building a home in Long Beach and making their home there in retirement. After his Naval service HK worked at Hughes Aircraft, from which he retired. He remained in California after his wife passed away and the past two years he was a resident at GracePointe Crossing East.
HK was a handyman and fixed all of his own vehicles. He enjoyed caring for his home and spent much of his time there.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Margaret in 1992, and five siblings.
HK is survived by daughter Dolores Rabiola of Dalbo, three grandchildren Michele Rabiola of Coon Rapids, Tom Rabiola of Cambridge, Denise Rabiola of Harris, four great grandchildren Ashley, Rachel, Josephine and Anthony, sister Thelma Martin, nephew Billy Wood both of Milledgeville, GA, brother-in-law Peter Donigan of San Francisco, CA, as well as other relatives.
