Obituary of Elizabeth Wood

Elizabeth Joan Wood, 93, of Cambridge passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at GracePointe Crossing Gable West. She was born June 8, 1916 in Barberton, Ohio to Ivan John and Teresa (Bumfich) Paterchevich. Betty grew up in Barberton where she attended grade school and graduated with honors from Barberton High School. In January 1934 she was united in marriage to Robert H. Wood in Barberton. They made their home in Barberton and their three children were born there. The family would move to Louisville, Kentucky and live there several years. Robert and Betty would move to Minnesota and make their home in St. Paul, Mound, and Andover. For the past five years Betty was a resident at the Grandview Christian Home, now GracePointe Crossing West. Elizabeth enjoyed sewing, writing and drawing. She was very involved with her church activities, serving as Sunday school teacher and active in bible studies. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert, son Charles, and brothers Joseph Patterson and August Patterson. Betty is survived by her sons Robert and wife Carol Wood of Cambridge, Bruce Wood of Louisville, KY, nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, daughter-in-law Linda Wood of Louisville, KY, sisters Helen Flaker of Barberton, OH, and Mary Molner of Barberton, OH, as well as nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
