Obituary of Everett Olson

Everett Marvin Olson, 77, of Elk River, formerly of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2009 at the Guardian Angels Care Center in Elk River. He was born on April 26, 1932 in Marshall, Minnesota to Archie and Edith (Wendorff) Olson. He lived for a time in Northeast Minneapolis before his family moved to a farm near Springvale. Everett attended school in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1951. While in school he was active in Future Farmers of America. After high school Everett remained at the home farm for several years. He worked in carpentry for many years and built several cabins on Green Lake. On June 20, 1986 he was united in marriage to Rose Schreckenghaust and joined her with her four children. Everett and Rose made their home in Elk River. He worked at Kraus-Anderson and was a superintendent on several jobs including Canterbury Downs, Mystic Lake Casino, several casinos in Wisconsin and the airport hangar in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In 1999 he retired from Kraus-Anderson after several years of service. Everett enjoyed hunting and fishing, was an avid Twins and Vikings fan and especially liked Brett Favre. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Albert and Fred Olson, sister Arala Linder. Everett is survived by his wife Rose of Elk River, children Ron and wife Sherri Schreckenghaust of Elk River, Ray and wife Julie Schreckenghaust of Greenfield, Randy and wife Cheryl Schreckenghaust of Anoka, Rene Schreckenghaust of Texas, eight grandchildren, sisters Betty Hord of St. Louis Park, Yvonne Olson of Braham, Karen and husband Ken Bocklund of Cambridge, brother Archie Jr. and wife Deanna Olson of Brainerd, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
