Obituary of Irene Mosbeck
Irene Margrette Mosbeck, 92, of Cambridge formerly of St. Hilaire passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2009 at GracePointe Crossing Gables West.
She was born on May 11, 1917 in Pennington County, Minnesota to Albert and Dora (Landa) Boutain. Irene grew up in Pennington County, was baptized at Dorothy Catholic Church in Dorothy and attended country school through the eighth grade.
On November 4, 1935 she was united in marriage to Samuel C. Mosbeck. They lived in several homes throughout Pennington County where Samuel farmed. In 1943 they purchased a farm near Red Lake Falls, which they lived and farmed for a couple of years. In 1945 they sold that farm and purchased another one just a few miles away which they farmed for several years. Irene cleaned the schoolhouse for many years and picked potatoes in Grand Forks. In 1958 they sold the farm and moved to St. Hilaire. While there, Irene worked at the Lefse Factory and the Hartz Store. She also painted homes for Marvin Wangsness for many years, retiring at age 65. They continued living in St. Hilaire. Samuel passed away on July 2, 1984. In 2000 Irene moved to a senior housing apartment in Thief River Falls and in 2002 moved to the Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge, now GracePointe Crossing Gables West.
Irene was a longtime member of the Black River Lutheran Church and was active in the Ladies Aide. She enjoyed making clothing, square dancing, embroidery, gardening and reading.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Samuel, daughter Virgene Guscatt, grandson DeWayne Mosbeck, sisters Lilly Lizotte, Tilly Kropp, Alice St. Mitchel, Angela Loeslie, brothers Alder, Donald and Marvin Boutain.
Irene is survived by her daughter Sandra and husband Jerome Steffens of Princeton, son Ronald and wife Mary Mosbeck of Munford, TN, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, sister Gladys and husband Odin Tollefson of Bagley, as well as many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
