Obituary of James Tabor
James Peter Tabor, 74, of Cambridge passed away on Monday, December 14, 2009 at his home.
He was born on January 29, 1935 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Alvin and Elsie (Jensen) Tabor. Jim grew up in St. Paul where he attended St. Michael's Catholic School and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1953. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1955. He was honorably discharged.
On September 11, 1954 he was united in marriage to Mary Lou Bohl in St. Paul, MN. After Jim was discharged from the military they made their home in St. Paul for some time before moving to Baudette, MN. Jim worked for United States Customs & Immigration for 35 years serving in Minneapolis and St. Paul, and Baudette as an immigration inspector. He retired in 1987 and remained living in Baudette for a few years before moving to Eagan and in 1999 moved to Cambridge.
Jim was a member of Christ The King Catholic Church and was very active over the years in the Knights of Columbus. He was a current member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and also served as a Grand Knight of 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus. He was a member of a group of Retirees of the US Customs, and a member of the Cambridge American Legion Post #290. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Pfoser and brother Eugene Tabor. Jim is survived by his wife Mary Lou of Cambridge, sons Gregory and wife Debra Tabor of Garrison Richard and wife Tamara Tabor of Brainerd, nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, three brothers, John and wife Rosalin Tabor of St. Paul Park, Joe and wife Lorraine Tabor of South St. Paul, Timothy and wifeJoyce Tabor of Askov, two sisters, Betty and husband Gene Pereske of St. Paul, Frances and husband Louis Dansky of Maplewood, mother-in-law Louise Bohl of Cambridge, as well and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
