Obituary of Violet Englert
Violet Englert, 92, of Cambridge passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at GracePointe Crossing Gables West.
She was born on November 27, 1917 in Comfort Township, Minnesota to Peter H. and Emma (Dahlman) Peterson. Violet grew up near Quamba and attended country school in Comfort Township.
On November 10, 1943 she married Alfred Charles Englert and they lived and worked on a farm in Comfort Township until 1972. Violet began working at the Cambridge State Hospital and retired from there after 18 years.
Violet moved to Cambridge and rented a second story home before purchasing a home on Main Street with her sister Victoria in 1976. The sisters started a small business of quilting, weaving rugs, embroidery and craftmaking and sold the items out of their home.
Violet grew up in the Quamba Baptist Church and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Cambridge. She was very artistic and enjoyed working on all of her crafts. She was very appreciative of having company and was a wonderful hostess, always having coffee and treats for anyone who visited.
She was preceded in death by her parents, former husband Alfred, sisters Selma Edstrom and Victoria Johnson and her brothers Clarence and Elmer Peterson. Violet is survived by niece Eunice Peterson and her husband Armando of Mexico, four great nieces and two great nephews, sister-in-law Laverne Johnson of Pine City, as well as her many friends, especially her church friends from First Baptist Church.
