Obituary of Lorraine Swedeen

Lorraine Lillian Swedeen, 90, of Cambridge passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 21, 1919 in Springvale Township, Minnesota to Victor and Myrtle (Becklin) Backman. Lorraine was baptized as an infant at Cambridge Lutheran Church. She grew up in Springvale and attended the Walbo Country School and went on to graduate from Cambridge High School in 1935. On September 2, 1936 she was united in marriage to Arnold Swedeen at the First Baptist Church Parsonage in Cambridge. In 1946 they moved to Walbo where they farmed and raised their four children. Lorraine worked for a few years at the potato factory in Cambridge and later at East Central Electric where she worked for over 26 years and retired in 1982. After retiring Lorraine and Arnold enjoyed traveling, camping throughout the United States and flew to Alaska to visit family She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son, husband Arnold in 1994, brothers Alden and Leland Backman, five great grandchildren. Lorraine is survived by two sons Lloyd and wife JoAnn Swedeen, Allan and wife Kathy Swedeen, daughters Yvonne and husband Dale Smith all of Cambridge, Marilyn and husband Allan Peterson of Princeton, 14 grandchildren Keefe (Holly) Swedeen, Dawn Swedeen and husband Steve Pederson, Jeff (Teresa) Smith, Todd Swedeen, Sherri Peterson, Jim (Michelle) Smith, Tammy (Chuck) Seafolk, Rachel (Larry) Graham, Susanne (Tom) Kase, Shane (Amy) Peterson, Mark (Denise) Swedeen, Lynnea (Tony) Beberg, Emily (Doug) Sanford, Vicki (Greg) Elmore, 29 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, sisters Ardis Swedeen and Gloria Cahoon both of Cambridge, Vivian Swanson of Milaca, as well as many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
