Obituary of Marion Merwin
Marion Louise Merwin, 89, of Cambridge, longtime resident of Grand Rapid, MN passed away on Monday, April 12, 2010 at GracePointe Crossing Gables West.
She was born August 31, 1920 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Anders F. and Anna L. (Lundberg) Pearson. On April 12, 1939 she was united in marriage to Laurel H. Merwin in Duluth, Minnesota. They made their home in Grand Rapids, MN and raised their two children Kurt and Anne.
Marion worked with the Herald-Review on publishing the City Directory. She was a cook at the Minneapolis YWCA camp at Camp Mekahga on Pokegema Lake and a cook at the Grand Rapids High School. Marion and Laurel were members of the Swedesh Northern Lights Society and sang in the Swedish Choir that performed at several events in northern Minnesota including Iron World at Chisholm. Before moving to Cambridge to live with her daughter and son-in-law she was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Grand Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Laurel, brother Bob Pearson, son Kurt Merwin and grandson Bradley Merwin.
Marion is survived by her daughter Anne and husband Cal Blakesley of Cambridge, five grandchildren Jane Blakesley of Crystal, Tim (Sunny) Blakesley of Edina, Tom Blakesley of Las Vegas, NV, Ron (Violet) Krueger of Columbia Falls, MT, Aaron Merwin of St. Cloud, seven great grandchildren Amanda (Trevor) Doerr, Remi, Preston and Landon Blakesley, Jerry, Mike and Terry Krueger, great great granddaughter Autumn Doerr, sister BettyAnn and husband Chuck Pelzl of Pine River, sister-in-law Vi and husband George Korol of Grand Rapids, as well as other relatives and friends.
