Obituary of Darlien Seibert
Darlien Joy Seibert, 75 of Cambridge formerly of Bradford, died on
April 12, 2010 at home.
Darlien was born July 23, 1934 in Minneapolis to Edith (Campbell) and
Clarence Thrun. She attended public school and as a teenager and worked various jobs. She enjoyed roller skating and dancing.
In November of 1956 she married Eugene Seibert and in 1959 the family moved to Bradford. Darlien stayed busy as a housewife and mother of six
children. In 1986 they moved to Cambridge. Her daughter Lonnie passed
away in Sept. 1996. Gene passed away April 1997, after 40 years of marriage.
During the Bradford years she worked in the two family businesses
Bradford Printing and Four Sons Bait Shack, and in the 70's at the Bradford Cafe. Later she began working at the Cambridge Medical Center, a career that lasted 22 1/2 years. In her retirement years she worked part-time at
Ben Franklin.
Her hobbies were varied and included fishing, crafts, silk flowers, photo books, sewing. She bowled many years and participated at both the state and national levels which took her to many states. She LOVED the casino and
her spirit lifted just walking into the building.
The summer of 2007 she found a new love in Jim Pierce. That year they spent the winter months in Texas, visiting and dancing each day. Spring of 2008 she discovered she had lung cancer which was in remission as of the
time of her death. Throughout her treatment she and Jim continued to dance. The last couple of years were filled with dominos, dancing and much teasing and laughter.
Darlien was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gene, daughter Lonnie, daughter in-law Dianna, Grandson Xavier, brother Ricky and sister-in-law Tiny Borst.
She is survived by special friend Jim Pierce; children Bonnie Nelson of
Princeton, Ken (Sheila) of Mora, Tim of Cambridge, Jeff of Mora, Brad of Wahington D.C. 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, Brothers Clarence Thrun, Jim (Sharon) Borst, Mike Borst, Scott (Tammy) Borst, sister- in-law Betty Borst, and other family and friends
