Obituary of Leona Hass
Leona Verna Hass, 87, of rural Isanti passed away on Monday, August 13, 2007 at her home.
She was born March 25, 1920 in Stanford Township, Minnesota to Frank and Agnes (Jensen) Willemsen. Leona was baptized and later confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church. She grew up in the Crown area and attended country school there.
On November 22, 1939 she was united in marriage to Edgar Hass at the Zion Lutheran Church. They lived on Edgar's family farm for a short time before purchasing a farm of their own in 1946 just a mile away. It was there that they farmed and raised their family their four boys Dale, Gary, Galen and Dean. Dean passed away at the age of three.
Leona was a lifetime member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Crown and was very active in the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening, visiting with neighbors and caring for her family. If anyone stopped by the home she was quick to have a pot of coffee and a plate of goodies ready. Leona and Edgar would also enjoy taking trips throughout the U.S.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Dean; husband Edgar in 1996, brothers Lebern, Duane and Russell Willemsen, and also an infant sister.
Leona is survived by her sons Dale and wife Sharon Hass of rural Zimmerman, Gary and wife Debra Hass of rural Isanti, Galen and wife Janice Hass of rural Isanti, 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
