Obituary of Juanita Gross
Juanita "Anita" Gross, 67, of Cambridge, Minnesota formerly of Alvarado, Minnesota passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at the Cambridge Medical Center.
She was born on September 8, 1942 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to Robert and Mattie (Perry) Johnson. Juanita grew up in Tuscaloosa and attended school there.
On September 6, 1962 she was united in marriage to Lawrence D. Gross in Tuscaloosa. They lived for some time in West Fargo, ND, and Grand Forks, ND. It was in Alvarado, MN that they lived for 30 years and raised their four children. In April 1999 Anita and Larry moved to Cambridge, Minnesota.
While in Alvarado, Anita worked as a cook at the Good Samaritan Center nursing home in Warren, MN and at Judy's Café in Alvarado. She enjoyed bowling and was known for her awesome cooking. Juanita was the Chairperson for the Marshall County DFL, she was a longtime member and taught Sunday School at New Hope Lutheran Church in Alvarado. More recently she was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Coon Rapids, MN and a member of the Cambridge Lions Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband Larry Gross of Cambridge, children Julie Tormanen of Cambridge, Gregg and wife Nicole Gross of Billings, MT, Michelle and husband Donnie Hart of Grand Forks, ND, David and wife Robin Gross of Coggon, IA, one grandson Isaac, two step grandchildren Kalista and Evan, brother Robert Johnson Jr. of St. George, UT, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
