Obituary of Lucille Jorgenson
Lucille Jorgenson, 84, of Cambridge passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at her son's home after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born April 27, 1926 in Colfax, Iowa to Earl and Edith (Callen) Woodcock. Lucy grew up in several areas throughout Iowa and Minnesota. She graduated from Elk River High School. Lucy was working at Boos Laboratories and it was there that she met Donald Jorgenson. In September 1950 they were married. They lived for a number of years in North Minneapolis and Lucy worked at the Dayton's Store in downtown Minneapolis. In 1972 they moved to Rush Lake and lived there until the fall of 2007 when they moved to Pine Village in Cambridge.
Lucy worked as a cook at Braham High School for several years and retired as head cook. Lucy loved music and was very active in musical groups, singing in different groups while in Minneapolis and the Stanchfield Baptist Church Choir. She was a longtime active member at Stanchfield Baptist where she was involved with the Quilting group, and Pathfinders, which she was also active while in Minneapolis.
Lucy enjoyed traveling, especially driving to different places, working on jigsaw puzzles, and loved spending time with and attending her grandchildren's activities. She was so proud of all her grandchildren. Lucy enjoyed going the cabin on Lake Superior in Cornucopia, WI and spending time with her family. She was very active throughout her life and continued to be active up until the end.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald in May 2009, brother Vernal Woodcock, daughter-in-law Mary Jorgenson and granddaughter Melissa Jorgenson. Lucy is survived by her sons David and wife Beth of Maple Grove, Gary and wife Kathi of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Robert and wife Ann of Princeton, daughter Debra and husband Steve Campbell of Braham, 11 grandchildren, Mike, Stephanie, Dan, Jennie, Brian, Kyle, Patrick and Steven Jorgenson, Jessica, Dustin and Sara Campbell, two great grandchildren Evan Jorgenson and Kenley Johnson, brother Cliff and wife Dixie Woodcock of Albuquerque, NM, two sisters Lois Slezak of Heron, IL, Jean Swenson of Brown Deer, WI, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
