Obituary of Dixon Pearson
Dixon Ray Pearson, 65, of Rochester, formerly of Cambridge passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, surrounded by his family.
Dixon was the son of Richard and Signe (Erickson) Pearson, born December 13, 1944 at the home of Mrs. Mathilda Tynelius, a local midwife's home in Grandy, Minnesota. Dixon grew up on his parent's farm in the Dale Community, attending the Fish Lake Baptist Church. He attended country school and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1962. Following graduation he attended the University of Minnesota -Duluth. Dixon joined the Army Reserves, proudly serving his country.
On October 16, 1976 he was united in marriage to Linda Glynn in Rochester, MN, and to this union two sons were born, Craig and Darick. They made their home in Cambridge and raised their two boys. Dixon was employed by local building contractors, and also worked for Tower Systems, which took him to many different countries, and later Qwest Communications from which he retired in 2005.
Dixon was an avid sports person and loved bowling, curling, and golfing. He enjoyed trips to the Boundary Waters, and Lake Tahoe. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He was an active member of the Cambridge American Legion Post #290 and served as commander in 1993, as commander he enjoyed being a part of the Legion Color Guard. Dixon will surely be missed by his family and friends, his generous giving heart, his dry humor, and one-liners that produced lots of laughter.
