Obituary of Clifford Goodin
Clifford Emil Goodin, 89, of Cambridge, formerly of Northeast Minneapolis passed away on Friday, August 6, 2010 at GracePointe Crossing Gables East.
He was born on February 9, 1921 in Dayton, Minnesota to Lewie and Arzelia (Allaire) Goodin. He grew up on a farm outside of the Dayton Elk River area and attended country school and went on to graduate from Elk River High School. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on January 26, 1940 and served during World War II as a 5th Division Paratrooper. Cliff was shot during the war and was honorably discharged on March 24, 1947.
On February 1, 1947 he was united in marriage to LaRayne Charpentier at the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis. They made their home in Minneapolis and raised their daughter Alexandra. Cliff worked in auto and truck sales for many years, selling vehicles at Bob Knowles, Minar Ford, and McGee Truck until he retired. After retirement Cliff and LaRayne moved to their lake home on Spectacle Lake and spent several winters in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. The past nine years were spent at Pine Village in Cambridge.
Cliff was known as Mister-Fix-It in and around Cambridge. He was a 36 year member of the Cambridge American Legion, as well as a member of the Isanti VFW, and Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, carpentry and fixing things.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lewie and Arzelia, and brother Dennis Goodin. Cliff is survived by his loving wife of 63 years LaRayne of Cambridge, daughter Alexandra Larkin of Minneapolis, two grandchildren John and wife Shanie Trog, Kerri and husband Will Wachs, three great grandchildren Gillian, Joshua and Grady, as well as many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
