Obituary of Mae Nelson
Mae F. (Moline) Nelson, 92, of Cambridge, formerly of Dalbo passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2007 at the Grandview Christian Home.
Mae Florence Nelson, the daughter of Alfred and Ellen (Anderson) Olson was born May 26, 1915 in Springvale Township, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Dalbo. She attended country school and Cambridge High School until her sophomore year, when she had to drop out to care for her ailing mother.
She married William Moline on April 25, 1936. They took over his family farm and raised dairy cows and later beef cattle. They took in foster children for many years, but had no children of their own. Bill died on November 17, 1985.
Mae stayed on the farm until 1994, when she married Glenn Nelson. They made their home in Cambridge, first at an apartment, then Pine Village, then a townhouse in River Hills and then at assisted living in River Hills. Glenn died on August 24, 2001. Mae entered Grandview Christian Home on March 23, 2005.
Mae very much enjoyed music and played the organ in her church for many years. She was very good at sewing and baking, arts and crafts. She enjoyed watching Twins baseball games and car races. Over the years, she worked for an insurance company in Dalbo, for many years at the Cambridge State Hospital and also Grandview Christian Home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands William Moline and Glenn Nelson, sisters Marian Grady and Mildred Moebius, brothers Albin and Clarence Olson.
Mae is survived by one niece Wanda and husband John Anderson of Dalbo, nephews Blaine and wife Diane Olson of Blaine, Wayne and wife Charlene Olson of East Bethel, Ron and wife Diane Olson of St. Michael, Gary and wife Cindy Olson of Elk River, Richard Olson of Minneapolis, Pat Grady of Cambridge, Todd Grady of California, as well as other relatives and friends.
Mae's ability to make you feel comfortable and at home, and her wonderful cooking along with her unusual sense of humor, will certainly be missed.
