Obituary of Wanda Dignan
Wanda Joanne Dignan, 92, of Cambridge, formerly of Finlayson passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at GracePointe Crossing Gables East.
She was born December 23, 1917 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Thomas and Nellie Habdas. Wanda grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from Edison High School in 1935. After graduating she moved to the Finlayson area.
On August 26, 1939 she was united in marriage to Thomas Dignan in Finlayson. They made their home in the Finlayson area where they raised their six children. Thomas and Wanda were dairy farmers for nearly 30 years before retiring in 1968. They continued living there until the early 1980's when they moved to Braham and also wintered in Yuma, Arizona for several years. Thomas passed away in 1987 and Wanda later moved to Ashland Place in Cambridge. She spent the past few years at the Cambridge Health Care Center, now GracePointe Crossing Gables East.
While living in Finlayson, Wanda was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She was also a member of St's Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Braham and Christ The King Catholic Church in Cambridge. She enjoyed gardening, doing embroidery and needlework, reading, baking, playing card games, spending time with family and entertaining at her extended family gatherings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter Judy, husband, sons Tom and Jim Dignan, daughter-in-law Aileen Dignan, sisters Florence Eastling and Lucille Martin, brother Ed Habdas.
Wanda is survived by her sons Terry and wife Nancy Dignan of East Troy, WI, Jerry and wife Janell Dignan of Grant City, MO, John Dignan of St. Paul, daughter Joanne and husband Jim Gilbert of Sturgeon Lake, daughter-in-law Jean Dignan of San Clemente, CA, 19 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
