Obituary of Elroy Mann
Elroy "Bud" Mann, 73, of Cambridge, formerly of New Prague & Eagan passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2006 at the Cambridge Medical Center.
He was born April 7, 1933 in Henning, Minnesota to William and Tillie (Dess) Mann. At about the age of seven his family moved to International Falls where he attended school. After finishing school he went on to work at Boise-Cascade until getting drafted into the U.S. Army in June 1953. He served in the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in April 1955. He returned to International Falls to work at Boise-Cascade for a few more years.
On November 8, 1958 he was united in marriage to Shirley Napper at the Methodist Church in International Falls. The couple moved to Minneapolis and also lived in Brooklyn Center, New Prague, Burnsville and Eagan. Bud worked at Advance Engineering and would later become the plant manager at Senty Enameling where he worked for several years. He also owned the Skelly Station in Eagan which he operated for many years. Shortly before retirement he worked at Sims Security which he continued even after retiring from the station. He remained in Eagan until three years ago when he became a resident of the Cambridge Health Care Center.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Burnsville.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Harold, Arnold, and Kenneth, sisters Margaret Welch, Eleanor Kimber, Mae Myron, Marion Dilly and Dorothy Harles.
He is survived by his children Tammy (Donald) Efta of Princeton, Bret (Cindy) Mann of Eagan, Shari (Tom) Schmitz of New Prague, 7 grandchildren Monique (Josh) Russo of Champagne, IL, Felicia Efta of Princeton, Kalena and Lindsay Keehn of Burnsville, Makayla, Mackenzie and Maddie Schmitz of New Prague, one great granddaughter Frankie Bush, former wife Shirley Mann of Burnsville, sisters Irene Johnson and Lucille Johnson both of International Falls, Gladys Johnson of Stevens Point, WI, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
