Obituary of Bennett Erickson
Bennett LeRoy Erickson, 89, of Cambridge passed away on Friday, December 22, 2006 at the Texas Terrace Care Center in St. Louis Park.
He was born June 3, 1917 in Cambridge, Minnesota to Erick an Edith (Sandquist) Erickson. He was raised in Cambridge where he attended grade school. He worked at his father's gas station, Cambridge Independent Oil along with his brother and sister.
Bennett was united in marriage to Roberta Swenson on March 21, 1942 in Minneapolis. He also served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving during World War II and was honorably discharged on October 21, 1945. Bennett and Roberta lived in Cambridge where they raised their four daughters. Bennett operated Cambridge Independent Oil for many years until selling it. He also was a deputy sheriff and was a member of the Cambridge Fire Department. Bennett would later work at Arrow Tank and Engineering from which he would retire.
Bennett enjoyed playing horseshoes and woodworking. He was a member of the Mason's and enjoyed bowling and was a member of the bowling league. He and Roberta enjoyed traveling and wintered in Arizona until Roberta's health began to fail. Bennett spent many years caring for Roberta. She passed away in March 2002.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Roberta, sisters Gladys Loran-Oliverius, and brother Dwaine Erickson.
Bennett is survived by his daughters Karen and husband Lorryn Anderson of Danbury, WI, Patricia and husband Bennett Foote of Cambridge, Priscilla and husband Lynn Hanson of Isanti, Heidi and husband Donald O'Connor of Ramsey, 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
