Obituary of Mary DeWitt

Mary Celestia DeWitt, 72, of Cambridge, formerly of Coon Rapids passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at GracePointe Crossing Gables West. She was born October 10, 1937 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Alfred and Zona (Hansen) Engberg. Mary grew up in Minneapolis where she graduated from high school. On September 30, 1956 she was united in marriage to Ward DeWitt Jr. They made their home in Minneapolis until 1961 when they moved their family to Coon Rapids. Mary worked a few different jobs before working at AT&T. She retired from there as a teleconference operator after over 20 years of service in 1997. Ward passed away in 1993 and Mary would later move to RiverHills in Cambridge in July 2007. In September 2007 she became a resident at GracePointe Crossing Gables West. Mary enjoyed the outdoors and was very interested in nature conservation. She loved animals, her dogs and her cats, and hunting with the boys up north. She was a Union Steward for AT&T. Mary enjoyed attending the kids' sporting events over the years, she liked following the Twins, and enjoyed knitting, baking, making her fabulous beef jerky, and crocheted many items that won blue ribbons at the fairs. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ward Jr. and sister Barbara. Mary is survived by her children Ward III "Bud" DeWitt (Teresa) of North Branch, Craig DeWitt (Michelle) of Hastings, Scott DeWitt (Paula) of Big Lake, Celeste Barker (Keith) of Princeton, Kenny DeWitt (Kristi) of Ramsey, Jack DeWitt (Julie) of East Bethel, 20 grandchildren Sonny, Brady, Melissa, Brandon, Hunter, Natasha, Zachary, Tanner, Abigail, Kimberly, Amber, Alex "Bopper", Amanda, Kenny, Cassie, Callie, Carter, Ladd, Dalton and Wyatt, five great grandchildren, brothers Tommy, Albert, Dennis and Kelly Engberg, sister Susie, as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
