Obituary of Mary Ann Filipi
Mary Ann Frances (Soukup) Filipi, 68, of Cambridge passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at her home.
She was born October 16, 1938 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Adolph and Frances (VanHorn) Soukup. She was raised in Beroun and attended Pine City High School, graduating in 1956. After high school she moved to Minneapolis and began working at Berwind Fuel and later Cargill.
She was united in marriage to Henry Filipi on August 3, 1957 at St. Joseph's Church in Beroun. The couple lived in St. Paul where their six children were born Karen, Brian, Daniel, Lynn, Diana and Amanda. They lived in St. Paul for ten years before moving to Minneapolis. In 1969 they moved to California and Mary Ann worked at Con Rock Company. They lived in the Los Angeles area until 1989 when Henry passed away and Mary Ann moved to Cambridge. She has lived in Pine Village since that time.
Mary Ann enjoyed singing, playing the piano and accordion, dancing, reading, watching baseball and loved going to movies.
She was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter Amanda; husband Henry, infant sister Rosemary.
Mary Ann is survived by her children Karen and husband Kevin Campbell of Phoenix, AZ, Brian Filipi of Phoenix, AZ, Daniel and wife Anita Filipi of Reseda, CA, Lynn Filipi of Hawaii, Diana Williams of Atlanta, GA, ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren, sister Margie Michael of Duluth, brothers John and wife Sandy Soukup of Finlayson, Frank and wife Terry Soukup of Cambridge, and Adolph (Red) Soukup Jr., as well as many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
