Obituary of Dorothy Hierl

Dorothy Ann Jennings-Hierl, 88, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2010 surrounded by family. She was born March 22, 1922 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Peter and Sally (Zurick) Tocko. She grew up in St. Paul and attended St. Casmir School. She was united in marriage to Martin Jennings. They made their home in St. Paul and raised their two daughters Jan and Pat. While in St. Paul, Dorothy worked in accounting at Kroger's Grocery Store. Dorothy and Martin moved to Cambridge in 1966 and Dorothy worked at the Super Valu Store for many years. They were active for several years in the Good Sam's Camping Club. Martin passed away in October 1985. Dorothy married Emil Hierl in 1988. They were active in the Rum River Ramblers and Blue Lakers camping groups as well as wintering in Arizona. While in Arizona they were active members of the St. George Parish. Emil passed away in June 2005 and Dorothy remained at her home in Cambridge and wintered in Arizona for a few years. In May of this year when she went to live with her daughter Pat in Elk River. She was an active member of Christ The King Catholic Church in Cambridge. She enjoyed sewing, fishing, doing word find puzzles, watching Mass on TV and the Lifetime Channel, following the Minnesota Twins, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Martin Jennings and Emil Hierl, granddaughter Nikki Sjodin-Miller, and brother Joe Tocko. Dorothy is survived by her daughters Jan Doyle and husband Tim of Avon, Ohio, Pat Casper and husband Ron of Elk River, five grandchildren Debbie (Tony) DeMike, Joey (Jim) Webb, Stephanie (Marty) Williams, Jennifer Stack, and Danny Miller, many great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, sisters Vi Rooney, Helen Pittelkow of St. Paul, brother Ed Tocko of St. Paul, as well as several step children, step grandchildren, step great and great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
