Obituary of Kenneth Loren

Kenneth Arthur Loren, 93, of Grandy passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Golden Living Center - Twin Rivers in Anoka. He was born March 22, 1917 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Arthur and Hulda (Wicklund) Loren. When Ken was six years old the family moved to Grandy and his parents ran the phone service. Ken attended grade school in Grandy and went on to graduate from Cambridge High School in 1935. After high school he worked for the Co-op Gas Station in Grandy and also Dahlman Manufacturing. He later drove truck for Johnson Brothers Fuel Oil, and drove school bus. On July 1, 1941 he was united in marriage to Virginia Hensch in Lakeville, MN. They made their home in Grandy until 1953 when they moved to Champlin. While there Ken drove truck and also raised POA horses. In 1970 he retired from truck driving and moved back to Grandy on Long Lake. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Cambridge, and while in Champlin was a member of Elim Baptist Church in Anoka. He was active in volunteering with the Boys Brigade, Young Life, Gun Safety Training, and was active with Trout Lake Camp. Ken enjoyed woodworking, stained glass working, woodcarving, he raised raspberries, trapping in his younger years, fishing, deer hunting - he was part of the "Dirty Dozen" deer hunting group from church. He and Virginia traveled throughout the United States including Alaska and made several trips to Georgia to get honey bees to deliver to others as well as make his own honey. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Phyllis Loren, Violette Haines, and Majel Bodien, brother Richard Loren, grandchildren Kathren Brown and Kenneth Brown. Ken is survived by his wife Virginia of Grandy, daughters Roxanne Tasler of Champlin, Sherry Bockoven of Isanti, son James Kenneth and wife Heidi Loren of Anoka, nine grandchildren Shellie (Andrew) Gebhard, Brian Tasler, Aaron (Jae) Tasler, April (Dale) Hanson, Harry Anderson, Jason Anderson, William Brown, Benji James (Heidi) Loren, and Joshua James (Alissa) Loren, 18 great grandchildren Ali, Elizabeth, Emma, Sam, Sara, Brandon, Zack, Richard, Karessa, Nikisha, Jessie, Davin, Anna, Kylee, Cory, Justin, Zachary and Kristen, and one great great granddaughter.
