Obituary of Violet Buckman
Violet Viola Buckman, 92, of Cambridge passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2007 at the Grandview Christian Home.
She was born December 19, 1914 in Kanabec County, Minnesota to Marvin and Viola (Anderson) Iler. Violet grew up in Bock where she attended District #20 Country School.
On November 26, 1938 she was united in marriage to Kermit Buckman in Braham, they made their home in Cambridge where they raised their two daughters. Violet worked as a cook at the Mora Hotel, the Arlington Hotel in Cambridge and also at Sundberg Nursing Home /Cambridge Health Care Center. She also was a babysitter for a number of years. Kermit passed away in February 1999. Violet continued living at her home until three years ago when she moved into the Grandview Christian Home.
Violet enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, canning foods, and most of all caring for her family. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Cambridge.
She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son Keith, husband Kermit, brother Earl Iler and sister Ruby Storm.
Violet is survived by her daughters Jannice and husband Roger Willmert of Cambridge, Debra and husband Rodney Stevens of Pine City, four grandchildren Ross Willmert of Braham, Reid and wife Katherine Willmert of Cambridge, Andrew Stevens and Alexa Stevens of Pine City, two great grandchildren Noah Tanaka Willmert, Joseph Ward Willmert, special step grandchild and great grandchildren Jenny and husband Jeff Bombard and their children Katy, Sarah and Hannah of Pine City, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
