Obituary of William Danger

William (Bill) Dennis Danger died peacefully in his home surrounded by his family May 29th, 2012 at 8:30pm after a five year heart and lung condition. Bill was born October 25, 1924 to Henry and Minnie (Peterson) Danger in Greely, (Pine County), Mn. He was baptized at St. Johns Lutheran Church in 1925. Bill attended grade school at Greely and graduated from Rush City High School, where he was involved in music and drama programs. After graduation in 1942, he spent a year in New York City, working at Sperry Gyroscope. He had a memorable time while there, was singing with the Brooklyn Male Chorus Christmas Concert over CBS radio. Bill married Chloe Jacques on December 29, 1945 at the Quamba Baptist Church. They made their home in Braham where Bill was employed at the Braham Bank, and later at Braham Implement and Motor. Moving to Cambridge in 1950, Bill began his hardware career at Ellingson Hardware and later with Warner Hardware in Minneapolis. After moving to New Brighton he was manager of various Warner Stores. Bill and Chloe owned and operated the Cambridge Montgomery Ward Catalog Agency in the 1970's, and Bill was a member of Cambridge Civic Commerce. Bill had a lifelong love of music, starting in his youth and continuing up until his death. He loved dancing, fishing, hunting and reading, especially his morning newspaper. Bill and Chloe enjoyed traveling with their fifth wheel to Texas. In his "retirement" he managed the Grandy Nine golf course. Bill gave his time to many worthy causes. He was a member of Cambridge Lutheran Church since 1950, where he was involved in the Befrienders Program, ushering, Loaves & Fishes, and the Prime Time Singers. He was a member of AA, and mentored others for many years. Bill was a "People Person". He was always ready with a joke for whomever would listen. He loved his family and was proud of his grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 1 sister. Survived by beloved wife, Chloe of 67 years, three children, son Greg and wife Margie of Long Prairie, son Steve and wife Joyce of New Brighton, and daughter Kris Parker and husband Lee of Cambridge, as well as 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
