Obituary of Marilyn Taus
Marilyn M. Taus, age 54, peacefully passed away the morning of February 2, 2007, at her home in Cambridge after an epic and courageous 15 year war waged against cancer. She is survived by her husband, Ken Dumdie, daughter Corie Barry (Marty) and grandson Parker, daughter Rochelle, son Lucas Dumdie (Jen), mother, Harriet Taus (Herman), brother David Taus (Barb), sisters Janet Gracyk (John), Karen Ditty (Tom), Gayle Nomelard, Nancy Vanesse (Greg) and Leona Cornish (Steve) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marilyn grew up in North Minneapolis, displaying an aptitude for the arts at a young age. She graduated from St. Cloud State University and began a long, prolific and successful career as an artist. She began with ceramics and moved into drawing, painting, sculpture and then into any medium she chose, culminating in a teaching career at Cambridge Community College that allowed her to share her exceptional gifts and talents with so many others.
Marilyn will be remembered for her extraordinary perception of the ordinary and her ability to communicate her vision and enthusiasm to allow the rest of us to create our own passions. She touched all those who met her and made the people around her feel more special for having spent time with her.
The family is deeply grateful to all the people who loved, supported and traveled with her through the peaks and valleys. Memorials should be directed to the Rochelle Taus Dumdie Scholarship Fund at Minnco Credit Union in Cambridge.
