Obituary of John Gilliam
John "Jack" Gilliam III, 68, of Cambridge, after a lengthy illness, entered the gates of heaven on February 12, 2007. Jack was born in Portland, Oregon on September 29th, 1938. He lived most of his life until he was 30 in Scappoose, Oregon. In 1968, He and Mandy met and moved back to Minnesota with their combined family of four. He served four years in the Marine Corps and was very proud to say he was a Marine. In 1988, He and Mandy did what Jack had always wanted to do. With all the children gone and living their own lives, they bought a new semi and drove over the road together for six years. Many happy memories were made during that time together, and will not be forgotten by his wife.
Jack loved his home and his family very much and will be missed so very much by his wife Mandy, his three living children Kenny (Linda) of Texas, Corey (Kim) of Oregon, and Jodi (Elmer) of Ashville, N.C. He is also leaving behind his 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, sister Angie (Tony), special friends Mark and Marlene Gift, mother Viola, and many aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by one son Bob, his Father and Sister.
At Jack's request, there will be no memorial service at this time. His wish is to be cremated and his spirit brought back home to be with his wife Mandy. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction and care of Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home in Cambridge.
To my husband,
In my heart, I know God needed you for something special, as you are a special person. All of our wonderful memories will keep you alive in my heart forever. Everybody meets one very special person in their lives and you were mine. You have left a very big void in my heart, but now you're with god and have no more suffering and hurt. I love you so much and will miss you, but the memories I have of our time together will keep you in my heart forever. Be at peace sweetheart. We will be together again. I love you. Your wife, Mandy.
