Obituary of Betty Dohse
Betty Belle Dohse, 81, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2011 at her home.
She was born January 26, 1929 in Deerwood, Minnesota to William and Myrtle (Murphy) Booth. Betty grew up helping out on the family farm and attended country school in the Deerwood area. After her schooling she worked as a nurse's aide at the Crosby Hospital.
She met Donald Dohse and they were married on April 21, 1949 in Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin. Donald was serving in the Army and was stationed in Tacoma, WA which is where their first son Jerry was born. The family would move to Cedar Rapids, Iowa which is where their sons Gary and Steve were born. Later they would move to Deerwood and Crosby, where their daughter Dorothy was born. In 1963 the family moved to Osseo. While in Osseo, Betty worked part time at the Hardware Store, also the Launderers and Cleaners and was a nurse's aide at the nursing home. After they retired Betty and Donald moved to Skogman Lake east of Cambridge in 1989.
Betty was a member of the Cambridge Legion Women's Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, and fixing things. She spent a lot of time at Wal-Mart and Menards getting items for her projects. Betty enjoyed listening to polka music and especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed spending time fishing with them at the lake.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald in October 1996, brothers Irving, Elde, Albert, Vic, and Bill Booth, sisters Zada Erickson, Mildred Crawford, and Elsie Rhodes, great grandchildren Emma and Benjamin.
Betty is survived by her sons Jerry and wife Mary Anne Dohse of Chicago, IL, Gary and wife Karen Dohse of Excelsior, Steve Dohse of Zimmerman, daughter Dorothy Petersen of Cambridge, five grandchildren Jason (Karlene) Dohse of Cloquet, Daniel Dohse of Zimmerman, Emily and Greta Dohse of Chicago, Treasa and husband D.J. Svitak of Isanti, four great grandchildren Gavin and Kylie Svitak, Marianna and Allie Dohse, sisters Laura Saftich of WA, Mary Lou (Kenny) Hamilton of Anoka, Pearl Rono of Ironton, MN, brothers Charlie (Helen) Booth of WA, Dwaine (Betty) Booth of Aitkin, Laverne Booth of Crosby, sister-in-law Florence Booth of Duluth, as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
