Eleanor J. Lood
Eleanor Joyce Lood, 90, of Eagan, formerly of Cambridge passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital.
She was born on March 16, 1920 to Pete and Cecil (West) Babb in Cambridge, Minnesota. Eleanor grew up in Cambridge, attending grade school and graduating from Cambridge High School. After graduating she moved to Minneapolis where she met Lawrence Lood. They were married in 1938. They made their home in Minneapolis and raised their two children Gary and Darlene. Lawrence passed away in 1961 and Eleanor remained in Minneapolis until 1964 when she moved back to Cambridge and lived with her mother. She worked as a nurse's aide at the Cambridge State Hospital for a number of years until retiring. Eleanor lived at the Calhoun Place Apartments until 2005 when she moved to Eagan to be near her son and daughter.
Eleanor was a member of Cambridge Lutheran Church where she was active in the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed bowling, embroidery, crocheting, caring for her grandchildren and traveling with family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lawrence, sister Jean Larson, brothers Donald, Clyde and Clarell "Punky" Babb. Eleanor is survived by her son Gary Lood of Richfield, daughter Darlene Starks of Eagan, four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, brother Duane Babb of Arizona, as well as other relatives and friends.
