Obituary of Ruth Doberstein
Ruth Emilie Doberstein of Braham died early morning on Friday, June 8, 2012 at The Haven House in Cambridge at the age of 84.
She was born a twin on December 2, 1927 to Emilie and Henry Linnemeyer in Bigelow, MN. She grew up in a big family on the farm, went to a country school until she moved to California to take care of her sister, Vera.
She took nursing classes and worked at both Braham & Cambridge Hospitals until she retired. She also took art classes through a correspondence course and was extremely talented with drawing, especially people.
She met Harold Doberstein while teaching VBS at church. They were married September 19, 1954 at St. Stephen's Lutheran church, of which she was still an active member. They had five children. She taught Sunday school, was part of Ladies Aid, AAL (now Thrivent), was on a bowling league, enjoyed cross stitch, puzzles, word finds, going to Florida, walks onthe beach, Yanni concerts, crab legs & shrimp, shopping, outdoor flowers, her daily roadside walks with Harold & Portal of Prayer devotions, her grandchildren, joking, being teased and laughing. She was always complimented on her blue eyes, beautiful hair & perfect skin. The people she took care of were always sharing fond memories of how caring & compassionate she was to them. She was shy but made friends easily. She was well liked by other residents and all her caregivers during her final years.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Harold, daughters Cindy(Jim) Svare of Isanti, Teresa Doberstein-Erbstoesser of Cambridge, sons Alan(Kristy) Doberstein of Stanchfield, Craig Doberstein and Douglas Doberstein of Braham, six grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, two sisters, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
