C. Wayne Krona, 89, of Cambridge passed away on Monday, March 7, 2011 at GracePointe Crossing Gables East.
Charles Wayne Krona was born July 5, 1921 in the family home in Springvale Township to Charles William and Lola (Erickson) Krona. Wayne grew up on the family farm. He attended the Pine Brook Country School and graduated from Cambridge High School. After high school he helped his parents on the home farm.
On April 6, 1945 he was united in marriage to Betty Hanson at the Cambridge Lutheran Church Parsonage. They would build a home on the Krona farmstead and Wayne continued to help with the farming until his father retired. He then began working on road construction until his mother passed away and he was forced to find work closer to home so he could care for his father. After his dad passed away, Wayne and Betty moved into the farm house, sold their home and had it moved off the farm site.
Wayne worked as a parts manager at NAPA, as well as Gillespie Motors, and Jack Roach Ford in Cambridge and Larson Ford in Foley from which he retired in 1983.
Wayne was a member of the Cambridge Lutheran Church. He enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, was always keeping busy by painting and fixing things. He liked to cook on the grill, loved music and playing his harmonica.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, sister Charlotte Ritzinger, and grandson Michael Krona. Wayne is survived by his wife Betty of Cambridge, sons Kenny and wife Tana Krona of Cambridge, Kevin and wife Deborah Krona of Elk River, two grandsons Brandon and Travis Krona of Elk River, nieces Pam and husband Tom Hove, Sandra Barnhart, and Jane Johnson, nephew John and wife Karen Ritzinger, as well as many other relatives and friends.
