Obituary of Joseph Hirsh
Joseph E. Hirsh, 90, of Cambridge died Sunday March 13, 2011 at the Haven House Residence in Cambridge.
Joe was born on May 11, 1920 to Elmer Joseph Hirsh and Anna Laura (Unruh) Hirsh in Kansas City, Missouri. Joe became a Christian in his youth and continued to live in a Christian manner. He, and his family, joined the 1st Baptist Church in Minneapolis. After moving to Cambridge they attended the First Baptist Church.
Joe lived in Garden City, MO. and went through high school there. He worked in the local lumber yard as bookkeeper and then to the bank. He was drafted in 1942 and released in 1946. Subsequently he went to college at Washington University in St. Louis.
During that time he met E. Lavonne Duncan who became his wife. Later they moved to California where he continued schooling, and found a job with the Bemis Company & Los Angeles. He was transferred to Seattle and then later to Minneapolis, He retired in April 1986.
Lavonne was a splendid wife who always loved and cared for him. She easily moved as he moved and gave her support in each way. Together they reared their son David and his wonderful wife Kaye and the their two children Cassandra and Christian.
Their lives were always in harmony and much love was shared for each other.
Joe is survived by his son David of Stanchfield, grandchildren Cassandra Clark of Coon Rapids, Christian Hirsh of St. Louis Park, and great grandson Andrew Clark.
