Obituary of Stephen Hasser

Stephen Alan Hasser, 55, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2011 at his home surrounded by family. He was born January 12, 1956 in Braham, Minnesota to Henry and Lenore (Larson) Hasser. He grew up in Braham, attending grade school and graduating from Braham High School in 1974. In November 1974 he enlisted into the U.S. Army and was stationed for a time in California as well as Georgia and was honorably discharged in July 1980. When Stephen returned home from the military he attended technical school at Control Data Institute. On May 26, 1979 he was united in marriage to Virginia Juntti at The Little Brown Church in The Vale in Nashua, Iowa. They lived for a time in Braham, Stanchfield, and Grandy before buying a home west of Cambridge where they raised their two children Brandon and Megan. In February 1988 Stephen began working for the Minneapolis Postal Service and worked there until December 2010, when he took an early retirement due to his health. He enjoyed watching sports, bike riding, playing with his dogs, hunting for agates and polishing them. Stephen was a Boy Scout Leader when his son Brandon was in scouts and they went on many outings and trips. One of their favorite trips was scuba diving in the Florida Keys. He was also a Union Steward for 8 years. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Alice and Dallas Larson, Henry Sr. and Ann Hasser, nephew Thomas Richard Hasser and great niece Alivia Anntonette Hasser. Stephen is survived by his wife Virginia of Cambridge, son Brandon Hasser of Cambridge, daughter Megan and husband Nate Zachmeier of Blaine, parents Henry Jr. and Lenore Hasser of Braham, brothers Michael and wife Virginia Hasser of Braham, Henry and wife Anntonette Hasser of Isanti, Thomas and wife Glenda Hasser of Isanti, William and wife Sue Hasser of Cambridge, sister Mary Gardner of Braham, brothers Robert Hasser of Braham, Christopher Hasser of Braham, as well as many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
