Obituary of Corinne Olson
Corinne Celeste Olson (Egelkraut), 69, of Isanti passed away at her home on Monday, April 25, 2011 following a lengthy battle with cancer.
She was born at home March 17, 1942 in Isanti County, Minnesota to Carl and Ella (Bergman) Egelkraut. Corinne grew up in the Weber area and attended North Branch Schools. When her mother Ella became ill in 1958, she left high school to take care of her. She earned her GED years later which she was very proud of. Last summer, Corinne had her 50th year reunion held and was upset that she could not attend due to her health.
On September 24, 1960 she was united in marriage to Roy Olson in North Branch. They lived in Bloomington , Fridley and in 1987 moved to a hobby farm in Cambridge . Corinne enjoyed raising Barred Rock chickens and selling eggs. Corinne worked as a licensed daycare for over 20 years and also worked at many factories. After she and Roy retired, they sold their farm and bought an RV, spending winters in Texas , and summers at Country Camping in Isanti. In December they bought their first new home at Villages on The Rum development in Isanti.
Corinne enjoyed knitting washcloths, baking, and growing beautiful flowers. She entered several county fair exhibits and won many ribbons for her entries, and received Grand Champion for her angel food cake and lemon meringue pie. She volunteered at the Cambridge Medical Center , where she knitted and donated numerous baby hats. After some coaxing from her husband Roy, Corinne finally decided to be more independent and received her drivers license in the 1990s.Corinne also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Carlton and Robert Egelkraut, granddaughter Ashley Rae Olson, and nephew Todd Crawford. Corinne is survived by her husband of 50 years Roy of Isanti, sons Brent Olson of Brook Park, Timothy Olson of Mora, daughter Heather and husband Shane Lewis of Ogilvie, five grandchildren Taylor, Travis, Kaylee, Caidyn and Dylan, a very close friend of the family, who Corinne called her second daughter, Lynnea Beberg, brother Gene and wife Barb Egelkraut of North Branch, sisters Sandra and husband "Tinker" Crawford of Bradford, Trudy and husband Kurt Koroschetz of Rush City, sister-in-law Marlene Egelkraut of Anoka and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
