Obituary of Eldora Nelson
Eldora A. Nelson, 75, of Cambridge lost her 8 month struggle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) on Thursday, June 7, 2007 at the Grandview Christian Home.
She was born January 7, 1932 in Blomford, Minnesota to Ephraim and Alice (Oman) Anderson. Eldora grew up in the Spring Lake area where she attended country school and went on to graduate from Cambridge High School in 1950.
On September 30, 1950 she was united in marriage to Rudolph Nelson at Cambridge Lutheran Church. They lived in the Cambridge area until 1953 when Rudy joined the State Department and moved the family overseas to places including the Philippine Islands, Morocco and Liberia, Africa. They moved back to the Cambridge area after leaving the State Department in 1978. Eldora and Rudy enjoyed their retirement in the Cambridge area. She helped Rudy with crafting and sold many of their items at area flea markets.
Eldora loved reading, hooking rugs, writing letters and bird-watching as well as watching all wildlife. Eldora was a very generous and loving person and will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Rudolph Nelson in July 2002 and sister Laural Berg.
Eldora is survived by her daughters Kathryn Nelson (Lloyd Bahr) of Isanti, Linda Anderson (Arlin Bahr) of St. Francis, sons Jeffrey Nelson of Cambridge, Jay Nelson (Janet Reed) of Cambridge, three grandchildren Hollie (Henry) Ploof of Elk River, Jennifer (Jason) Chavez of Antioch, CA, Raymond (Alison) Strike of Portland, OR, , seven great grandchildren Ceara, Samuel, Jackson, Casey, Chelby, Colin and Corrie, brother Douglas (Darlene) Anderson of Texas, sisters Loretta Hanson of Cambridge, Virginia (Imants)Semelis of Minneapolis, as well as nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
