Obituary of Harriet Olson

Harriet I. Olson passed away on Friday, June 15, 2007 while a resident at the Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge at the age of 90 years. She was born in Alta, Iowa on January 2, 1917 to John and Bessie Bertelson. She was raised and educated in Chisago and Isanti counties in Minnesota. She was employed at the Minneapolis Library for several years and was also a dietician and cook at the Senior Activity Center in Cambridge. She married John W. Olson on June 1, 1946 at her home church, Calvary Lutheran, Rush Point, MN. The couple lived in Moline, Illinois while her husband attended Augustana Lutheran Seminary in Rock Island, IL. The parishes served by this couple were Faith, Miltona, Ebenezer, Kandiyohi, and Faith, Isle all in Minnesota. The Olson's moved to Cambridge where her husband served as Visitation Pastor at Cambridge Lutheran Church. Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, and brother Eldon Bertelson who died in World War II. Surviving is her one sister Ethel Holt and husband, the Rev. Everett Holt of Bella Vista, AR, one cousin Marvin Bertelson of Sunnyvale, CA, sister-in-law Virgie Olson of Minneapolis, and numerous nieces and nephews-in-law. The family wishes to express thanks to all who have shown love and support over many weeks and years through friendship, visits and caring.
