Obituary of Dorothy Lindberg
Dorothy Mae Lindberg of Grandy, MN passed away suddenly at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis on Thursday, July 14, 2011.
She was born August 18, 1929 the middle child of Victor and Edith (Olson) Beckman. Dorothy attended Elm Park School, Cambridge Schools and Columbia Heights High School.
On August 23, 1947 she was married to Wilbert J. Lindberg. Wilbert was a construction laborer and they spent their early years together in Missouri, the Dakotas and Chicago before building their home in Grandy in 1957.
Dorothy loved gardening and was well known for her wonderful Iris gardens. She worked as secretary/bookkeeper for 23 years for George Johnson at the Leader Store/Furniture Studio. Dorothy and Wilbert spent 51 ½ years together until his passing in March 1999. Dorothy continued to live in Grandy and enjoyed gardening, bowling, traveling, playing cards with friends, and was an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Rush Point.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wilbert, parents and infant brother. Dorothy is survived by son Jim (Connie) Lindberg of Cambridge, grandson Grant (Korey) Lindberg of Cambridge, granddaughters Anna (Arturo) Barcenas of Winter Haven, FL, Jennifer (Christopher) Sayavong of Maplewood, MN, four great grandchildren Audriana Mae and Arturo Jose Barcenas, Brendan and Elliot Lindberg, sister Jane Dahl of Blaine, brother Donald (Marion) Beckman of Blaine, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
