Obituary of Myrna Hendrickson
Myrna Diane (Bakke) Hendrickson was born June 15, 1942, in Thief River Falls, to Herb and Dorine Bakke. She was raised and attended school in Oklee, Minnesota. She was the oldest of three children born to Herb and Dorine, her sisters Marilyn and Julie. After graduating from Oklee High School, she continued her education at NDSU in Fargo, North Dakota for a year, before transferring to UND in Grand Forks, North Dakota for an additional two years. She bypassed her fourth year of college to marry Neil Hendrickson, of Gonvick, Minnesota on June 29, 1963. After their wedding, the couple relocated to Minneapolis where Neil began work in an accounting firm, ad Myrna began work at a pre-school. In 1965, the couple's first child, Brent, was born; followed by Wray in 1967 and Sheila 1968. With the family complete, Neil and Myrna bought their first home in Golden Valley, and four years later, moved to a home in Cambridge, Minnesota.
After the children were all in school, Myrna took a library aide position at Cambridge Elementary School, which she held with great pride for 26 years. At various times during her life, Myrna also enjoyed playing on a co-ed softball team, a bowling team, and of course golfing with her friends at the Purple Hawk.
Strangers were only friends Myrna hadn't met, and her bright eyed and friendly smile is already legendary in Cambridge. Myrna made and kept friends easily, and enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved to laugh and have a good time. She adored her husband, her kids and grandkids, and had great pride in her extended family, as well. Her friends from Bridge and Circle were so very dear to her, and comprised of the type of individuals any person would be proud to know…let alone call an accumulation of friends.
Myrna was an accomplished card player, a board game whiz, a wonderful cook, and had a decorating sense that deserved a slot on HGTV. She had great pride in her home, and took painstaking care to decorate it just right for every season or occasion. Her home never looked anything but perfect.
Myrna is survived by, and already greatly missed by, her loving husband of 48 years Neil; sons Brent (Catherine) and Wray (Robyn); daughter Sheila (Tom) Larson; two sisters Marilyn (Richard) Dufault of Waseca, and Julie (Bruce) Oehlke of Cambridge; six grandchildren; and too many cousins, nephews, nieces, and other relatives to mention individually.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Herb and Dorine Bakke.
