Obituary of Alma Nelson
Alma A. Nelson (Koecher Priebe), 95, of Stacy, died on September 9, 2007 at Cambridge Health Care Center. She was born on November 26, 1911 and was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Great-Great-Grandmother.
She was preceded in death by Husbands, Leo Priebe and Adolph Nelson, Grandsons John Frenning and Bruce Priebe, and Great-Grandson Tyler Schmidt.
Alma is survived by Daughter Norma (Bob) Frenning, Sons Marlyn (Joyce) Priebe, Larry (Donna) Nelson, and David (Peggy) Nelson, Brother Irving Koecher, 15 Grandchildren, 26 Great-Grandchildren, and 5 Great-Great-Grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
Alma Adelaide Koecher was born to Ida (Schlipp) Koecher and Charles C. Koecher in Oxford Township, Isanti County on November 26, 1911. Alma had 5 older sisters and 2 older brothers. Alma married Leo Priebe on October 29, 1930, and Marlyn and Norma were born to this union. Leo died September 14, 1936. Alma and the two children lived in California for about 8 months, in part due to the "polio epidemic", but moved back to Blomford, MN.
Alma married Adolph W. Nelson on December 25, 1939, and they moved to St. Paul, MN on Minnehaha Avenue near Payne Avenue where Larry and David Nelson were born. Alma and Adolph purchased a home in North St. Paul in 1950, and then purchased a farm west of Stacy and moved there in 1970. Adolph passed away December 14, 1975.
Alma had a busy life, gardening, raising flowers and chickens, and endless amounts of crafts, sewing, knitting, crocheting, rug weaving, and quilt making. The birds were well fed as she watched wild turkeys and deer in her yard. Alma loved polka music and dancing too. Alma resided at Cambridge Health Care Center for the last 5 years of her life.
